As a Certified IFS Broker, we specialize in the marketing & distribution of fresh fruit from selected growers to a global network of customers who supply wholesale markets and retail programs.
From our humble beginnings as a citrus exporter in 1997, to our global network of partners and customers, we have worked hard over the past 25 years to ensure the most efficient sale of the entire crop on a transparent and sustainable basis. It’s how we ensure worthwhile returns and lasting partnerships.
Through this diverse network, we can ensure we market our producers’ fruit in the most effective and risk-averse manner, thereby ensuring sustainable returns on an annual basis.
The proof of this success is that the majority of our relationships formed in our early years, and since then, still thrive today.

Harvesting
As the journey begins, fruits are carefully handpicked, collected in bins, and dispatched to state-of-the-art packhouses.
Packaging
Our dedicated Quality Control team and Technical Managers collaborate closely with our growers, ensuring that we consistently meet and exceed industry and international standards. Any irregularities are promptly communicated to the Packhouse Manager for immediate resolution.
Cold Storage
Adhering rigorously to the Chain of Custody per GlobalG.A.P., our primary Cold Storage Facility, PE Cold Storage (PECS), located in the Coega SEZ, is strategically positioned near the Ngqura Harbour. Handling the majority of our Citrus and Pome fruit volumes, PECS boasts a capacity of approximately 12,000 pallets for Conventional Storage and 2,000 pallets for Cold Sterilisation.
In Durban, we leverage another group cold storage facility with Go Global, and maintain strong relationships with additional Cold Stores to meet any extra capacity and service needs.
Containers
To optimize logistics in and around the port, PECS established its Container Depot in 2020. Equipped with 510 Plug points and adjacent to the Cold Store, PECS Container Terminal ensures efficient loading and off-peak delivery.
Container temperatures are meticulously monitored from loading to destination, utilizing shipping line updates and independent GSM data loggers, allowing us to proactively address any variances before potential damage occurs.
Shipping Lines We Use
Navigating global waters, we entrust the majority of our volumes to industry giants Maersk and MSC for their comprehensive services. Yet, recognizing the value of flexibility, we also collaborate with smaller lines such as ONE, Hapag-Lloyd, CMA, Goldstar, Cosco, and Evergreen, tailoring our approach to meet the unique needs of different markets.

Safpro’s grower base is formed around long-term relationships and one of the most stable in South Africa with shared vision, producing, packing, and marketing strategies. The growers we partner with are GlobalG.A.P and SIZA certified.
